Chaplaincy Team
St. John's Chaplaincy Team
At St John's Catholic primary school, the Chaplaincy Team play a vital role in supporting and nurturing the Catholic life of our school community. Made up of children from Years 3-6, the team helps to plan, lead and monitor collective worship, support charitable initiatives, and promote the values of faith, love, and service throughout the school.
A message from our Team
"We love being part of the Chaplaincy Team, because it gives us the chance to help others, share our ideas and make our school a loving place for everyone. We like being able to help the children in KS1 to plan their Celebration of The Word, write prayers for special celebrations and lead prayer around school, like when we lead One Million Children Pray the Rosary."

Jubilee Mass and our 'Door of Hope'
Chaplaincy planned, designed and decorated a 'Door of Hope' for our special Jubilee Mass in Term 6. We met with Father Robert to plan and discuss how we could decorate the church and created a special door frame, which the whole school were able to walk through on our procession from our school to St. Alphege's Church.
The Live Simply Award
The LiveSimply award is an opportunity for Catholic communities - parishes, schools, religious orders and chaplaincies - to respond to Pope Francis’ invitation in Laudato Si' to “work with generosity and tenderness in protecting this world which God has entrusted to us”.
As a school community we are on a journey with Christ towards the LiveSimply award.
The LiveSimply Award is awarded to schools who can show how they have been:
- living simply
- living in solidarity with people in poverty
- sustainably with creation.
Over the course of the year, we have been working towards our award with a number of different actions, including walk to school initiatives, our wonderful eco-committee, a special trip to Parliament and our new school garden, which is currently being built.
Want to raise money for Charity?
Chaplaincy are actively involved in lots of different charity work (see our charity page) across the year but are always open to new ideas. If you have a charity you would like support, write a letter explaining which Charity you would like to raise money/donations for, why you have chosen that Charity and how you plan to help. Chaplaincy Team will read all suggestions and decide which one to run in school and if it's possible to run an event.
